Is it really that difficult?

OKAY, would you like to know something about me? A huge, yet insignificant thing that bothers me every time I go to the grocery store. I make it SO easy for the baggers. I used to be a bagger so I know first hand how it is supposed to work. I even had "bagger" training. So to make it easier, and so my eggs still have their insides intact, I pay attention to how I unload my groceries on the belt. When you buy $250 worth of groceries at a time, I want to put them away in like items when I get home. This is my unloading process: all boxed items together, leave a space, all produce together, leave a space, all meats together, leave a space, all cold foods and dairy together, leave a space, canned items, leave a space, frozen foods, space, non-foods, space, then comes the bread, chips and eggs. How easy could that be? I am annal, I know. I admit I have a problem. Scott and I go shopping tonight and the kid throws my onions in with my dish soap. DUH! Since we have lived here, I have watched my groceries, perfectly laid out, just get mismatched in with whatever. Tonight, I finally spoke up- nice, but firm. I looked at the kid and told him that my dish soap, along with all non-food items should not ever go in with the meats, or produce, but should be bagged with ONLY other non-food items. The kid just looked at me like I was the idiot and kept on bagging. Produce with the meat, boxes with the cans, cold foods with the BBQ sauce. HMMMMM! What happened to good ol' customer service and a little common sense?

Joe and I load up the groceries like that too. Everyonce and a while I get a checker who can't bag, but most of the time my groceries make it home okay. I too was a bagger and had great bagger training. Joe and I used to race at work to see who could bag the quickest and the best. :) It isn't rocket science!

i know EZACKLY what you mean! ever since i was pregnant and had to carry the groceries up a a flight of stairs, i have always put my refridgerated products together hoping that they would get bagged together so i could just bring those up and leave the rest for darren. and i ALWAYS leave my bread and eggs for last.

And it NEVER works! and the store that we shop at has a bunch of handicap people bagging, which i am fine with as long as they are capable of not smashing my groceries... which they aren't.

I soooo agree with you! It drives me crazy the way they bag groceries! They just throw the stuff wherever, not paying a bit of attention to what should go with what! Total pet peeve of mine!!
