The Pick-Up at Camp Freelander

On Thursday evening, Scott and I went to pick up Dalton and this is what we found: He was in the trading post and had just come out with double fisted wads of candy, but he had a GREAT time. Speaking of great time, look at his sleeping quarters: Talk about roughing it!! This castle is so cool. As you walk across the bridge, you enter through the castle doors and there is a large outdoor open area. Once you close the front door, there is no way for any large critters (or older siblings) to get in and attack. There are quite a few rooms: all complete with doors, windows, electirc fans (the rooms even have electicity)and bunkbeds, most had 4 beds with a wall partition and then 4 more beds. The boys made swords and were able to fight off the enemy from the top of the castle walls. I'm sure there have been plenty of dragons that have tried to get in and conquer, but somehow the knights have always prevailed :). Anyway, after Dalton gave us a tour of the castle, he showed us where he swam, shot bebe guns, did archery, and ran the obsticle course. We had the closing flag ceremony where a representitive from each pack had to dance up to get certificates; Scott was chosen for that: After flag ceremony, we all went to have dinner that consisted of undercooked chicken and dried out chocolate cake (the potatoes and green beans were delish), and headed off to watch/participate in the boys skits. Dalton's group did a funny one about brushing teeth, but they were all a bit corney. So, after ALL the skits were done, we had to go watch the slideshow. I didn't know it was going to be such a LONG process in picking up our son from camp. It has been almost a week now since we picked him up and he is still talking about it with a gleam in his eye. AHHH, the good ol' days. Oh, by the way, all those gallon size ziploc bags with Dalton's outfits in them, the ones we so lovingly placed love notes in the pockets, ONLY ONE (1) HAD BEEN USED IN 4DAYS!!!! YUCK! No wonder why boys have coooooooties.

Cooties indeed! My son would wear the same socks for a month or more if I would let him. Ugh, gross! I'm glad your son had a good time.

I think faith would be like that if we let her. Jamie even changes her Wii character's outfits every day. hehe!

I'm glad he had so much fun. I know Girl Scout camp was awesome!

we did the whole deal with the zip lock bags too - I discovered that he just opened the bags and pulled out what he wanted and left the rest - so on pick-up, a bunch of zip lock bags with socks in them
GREAT IDEA though
