The Christmas Dare

So this year Christmas started with a dare. Makenah told me that she was going to wake us up to open gifts at 3:00 AM! I informed her that there is NO WAY she could get up that early, even throwing in a dare. She set her phone alarm in an attempt to prove me wrong. I told Scott last night that all the kids were in on waking us up at 3:00 and he wasn't amused. I told him that it was a dare and I had to follow through. He told me to set my alarm to 2:49. I woke up in time to brush my teeth and heard the footsteps of Makenah running down stairs. I stood by the door in my room and just as Makenah opened the door, I jumped out at her and scarred her half to death. It was AWESOME!! Madisen came down, then Dalton came down, and then the biggest task was getting Scott up. We had fun opening our gifts, playing with our gifts, reading some of our gifts, and then we all went back to bed (except Dalton who stayed up to play his new Wii game). I think next year we will go back to tradition of not opening gifts until after 7:00 AM, then enjoying breakfast after a good nights sleep. I hope everyone has a VERY Merry Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. I am so grateful for such a tiny little baby that was born under such humble circumstances, and for the gift that HE ultimately gave to me.
