See Makenah...

See Makenah See Makenah's Phone See Makenah's Language Arts Grade See Makenah get her phone taken away!! She "forgot" to turn in a few papers (which she had completed and left in her locker) so now she is frantically trying to bring her grade up. She is going through texting withdrawls, but I have assured her that she will not die because of a lack of phone. She thinks that her phone is a life sustaining necessity and is trying with all her might to reason her phone back. This mornings conversation went like this: Makenah: "Hey mom, did you know that my friend's parents do an interim thing when she gets bad grades?" Me: "How so?" Makenah: "Well, instead of taking her phone away, they take away the computer or her iPod, or something like that. Then at the end of the quarter, if she has an F, then they take her phone away." Me: "Well, Makenah, Your friend's parents must REALLY be nice. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I'm not waiting until your quarter grade comes out before taking drastic measures. I like to go right for the kill and D's and F's will get your phone taken away. To get your "life-sustaining" device back, you need to have at least a "C" in ALL of your classes, preferably at least a "B". The interim should be that if you get a "C" in any given class, I take away your iPod or the computer. Now that's a GREAT idea you gave me!" Makenah: (as she stomps away with a huffy breath) "That's so stupid!" Me: (happily thinking to myself) "Another successful conversation with my teenage daughter!"

Way to go Mom! At least you are still conversing. I am so glad we haven't gone down the road for cell phones yet. I am sure soon enough it will be here, but so far I have held that off. I always tell my kids when they say I am mean, Great! Thanks, I will take that as a compliment because it means I am doing my job right! Thanks a lot!

Hey! Thanks for complimenting the blog design. I'm trying to start a little side business doing them, but I need some people to do FREE ones so that I can have examples...would you like to be one of the people I do for Free??? If so, let me know!
