My Crafty Girl:

Madisen has spent a good part of the summer swimming, playing with friends, having a bit of band camp for her clarinet, reading (she just finished Twilight), having sleepovers, playing on the computer, watching TV, and playing outside. Madisen has also spent a bit of her summer being a crafter. While looking in a beading book, she came across a fun door hanger thingy majigger. We went to Wally World and bought a bunch of straws and beads. She was slow to get it going, working on it diligently for a week or so, then just letting it sit for over a month without touching it. One day (after hearing the dreaded, "I'm bored") I suggested that she pull out her door hanger thing and finish it up. We had to make a few more trips to Wally World because they kept running out of the beads she was using. I helped her with a few strands, but she did a great job to get it finished. The night that she finished (I think it was about 11:00(ish), she begged Scott to get it hung right then. Like the great Dad that he is, and his love and empathy for his "middle child", he got right to it. This is the finished product :) Yeah Madisen!! Another of her little craft projects was this little cross stitch. I had all the Activity Day girls (kind of like Girl Scouts) try one of these little cross stitch kits, and 10 of the 12 girls really enjoyed the challenge. Madisen finished hers up in just a few days, and is working on her second. She must get that cross stitch thing from Scott's mom, Marie, because I don't have the patience for it, but Marie has done some BEAUTIFUL cross stitches. One of these days I will have to post about that and put up some photos. In the meantime, this is what my little Madisen has finished:

Yay! That is definitely very crafty! Tell her great job! That beaded curtain looks like it took a lot of time and patience, but it turned out great! At least she did something productive over her summer, which is more than I can say for myself.

Good for Madisen! The cross stitch and telescope are quite the hobbies for her.

Stress got me today...no chocolate was eaten simply b/c we had none in the house; but I did manage to eat more bread than I should have.

We did get our walk in tough. That should count for something!

Never a dull moment here. Only about 1/2 hour walk today. It was actually a little chilly this morning and we were in a hurry. Water intake was good though today.
There is always tomorrow, right?
